“Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine”: Resilience Amid the War
Challenge
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine plant, located in Kyiv region, found itself at the epicenter of hostilities. Fierce fighting and explosions shook Brovary district.
On February 24, 2022, an emergency response plan was immediately activated, providing for a temporary suspension of production to ensure employees’ safety. Our plant and main office, both located in Kyiv region, came under occupation and suffered damage as a result of the fighting. This became the greatest challenge in the company’s history in Ukraine.
Solution
From the first days after the liberation of the Brovary area, we worked actively to restore operations. In May 2022, production at the plant was resumed in full compliance with all quality and safety standards.
Moreover, the company managed not only to ensure the reliability of business processes but also to preserve all jobs through successful implementation of internal professional development programs and comprehensive employee support.
A new professional reskilling program – ReSkill2Win – was introduced, enabling employees to learn new professions.
We also helped our employees evacuate from dangerous areas and provided material support, while regional offices were turned into support hubs. The company created all necessary conditions for their safety, including equipping shelters on the plant’s premises.
Even in wartime, we continue to operate – supporting our colleagues, communities, and the country’s economy, bringing victory closer every day.
Results
A recent socio-economic impact study demonstrated the contribution of the Coca-Cola System to Ukraine’s economy, employment, industry development, and community support.
In 2024, the company’s operations contributed UAH 19.1 billion to Ukraine’s GDP growth. Every hryvnia generated by Coca-Cola creates another ten in related industries – from trade and manufacturing to transport and agriculture.
The company helps sustain more than 31,700 jobs, provides UAH 8.1 billion in tax revenues (0.5% of total national tax income), and supports Ukrainian producers – with 72% of procurement budgets directed to local suppliers.
Since the first days of the full-scale war, Coca-Cola has been contributing to community support and Ukraine’s recovery.
Since February 2022, the Coca-Cola System together with The Coca-Cola Foundation has provided more than $40 million in humanitarian aid and infrastructure recovery.
