Overcoming the Consequences of Destruction after the Missile Strike on OHMATDYT
The Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery – the largest specialized pediatric cardiac surgery clinic in Ukraine – fell out of the public communication spotlight after the missile strike on OHMATDYT, yet it suffered no less damage than other hospital buildings.
Our goal is to restore the intensive care and operating units and to purchase a resuscitation vehicle for the facility.
PepsiCo Ukraine and the Charitable Foundation “Tvoya Opora” have joined forces to restore this unique medical institution. As part of the partnership, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation and announced the launch of a large-scale project to rebuild the Center’s operating and intensive care units.
To implement the initiative, PepsiCo Ukraine allocated 1 million USD to the joint project of the “Tvoya Opora” Foundation – “Overcoming the Consequences of Destruction after the Missile Strike on OHMATDYT.”
Within this project, part of the funds was directed to restore the intensive care and operating units of the State Institution “Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.”
A resuscitation vehicle worth over 36 million UAH was purchased, and 16 modern Japanese-made monitoring stations were installed, making the intensive care unit for children fully equipped.
Valeria Tatarchuk, Founder and CEO of the “Tvoya Opora” Charitable Foundation:
“Thanks to the support of PepsiCo Ukraine, we were able to equip the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery with modern integrated systems that provide round-the-clock monitoring of young patients in intensive care. This new technology allows for more complex observation and more precise treatment control. We also purchased a critically needed resuscitation vehicle.”
Olena Kutina, General Manager of PepsiCo Ukraine:
“As one of the leaders of Ukraine’s food and beverage market, we develop our business responsibly – providing Ukrainians with quality products, contributing to the country’s economic stability, and caring for the well-being of local communities. The ability to operate effectively gives us the resources to help those in need.
Since 2022, PepsiCo Ukraine has allocated over 200 million UAH to charitable initiatives. The restoration of the operating and intensive care units of the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery is an example of how partnerships between business and the non-profit sector can drive real change. We sincerely thank the Center’s doctors for their daily dedication and the Tvoya Opora team for their professional implementation of this important project.”
Every year, about 3,500 children in Ukraine are born with congenital heart defects, and up to 40% of them are in critical condition from the first days of life. The availability of modern monitoring systems ensures the highest level of medical supervision, helps prevent complications, and enables timely assistance.
Each year, the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery treats around 1,000 patients with the most complex cardiac pathologies.
