Entrepreneurship Support

The main factors negatively impacting women’s economic security include:

• lack of support from relatives and family members,
• insufficient life planning skills, particularly in budgeting;
• a lack of confidence (or even fear) and knowledge to participate in state programmes supporting entrepreneurship in Ukraine.

Participation in the project provides an opportunity to acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary for successful employment or starting one’s own business. Women may participate in various grant competitions and/or state programmes in the future, so demand for training in business management and development fundamentals is steadily increasing. At the same time, there are limitations associated with gender stereotypes both from employers and from women themselves regarding access to professions that are traditionally considered male. Additionally, there is a lack of skills in seeking information about available employment, retraining, or business start-up programmes, as such information is often disseminated through channels that are not easily accessible to those who need it most.

To address these issues, the project focuses on working not only with women-by inspiring and motivating them to make changes and providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment or starting their own business-but also with community members, business representatives, and authorities, encouraging them to build networks and create favourable conditions that enable women to realise their potential and pursue professional growth.

From October 2020 to November 2024, Convictus, with the support of PACT Ukraine and the Canadian Embassy, implemented the project “Women Engaged: The Path to Growth and Economic Security”, or “Wings” for short. Beginning in 2025, the project for women’s economic empowerment continues in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid, Norad, JSC “ING Bank Ukraine”, “Women’s Opportunities in Ukraine”, and others.

What do we do?

• Conduct events at community and regional levels to create a platform for participants to share their experiences of running their own businesses, take part in fairs and exhibitions, and draw the attention of local authorities to women entrepreneurs in order to develop local micro-business support programmes;
• Implement the “Opportunity Seminar” intervention-six group sessions and six individual meetings in three communities, twice a year;
• Organise and deliver training sessions on the basics of starting and developing a business, followed by financial support for purchasing equipment and materials for start-ups;
• Organise and deliver training sessions on the basics of successful employment, with subsequent financial support for paying for education and/or retraining; create and develop socially oriented public organisations;
• Hold commissions to evaluate women’s business plans and development plans to improve employment opportunities, and conclude contracts with the winners recommended by the commission, for amounts up to 20,000 UAH for courses or equipment.

Our results:

• Direct services provided in Kyiv region to women affected by the war and to vulnerable women-400.
• Community members (social workers, authorities, etc.)-120.
• Women entrepreneurs from across Ukraine-600.

Для подолання цих проблем фокус проекту направлений на необхідність працювати як з жінками, надихаючи та мотивуючи їх до змін, надаючи їм знання та навички, необхідні для працевлаштування або започаткування власної справи, так і з мешканцями громади, представниками бізнесу та влади, заохочуючи їх створювати мережування (networking) та сприятливі умови, що дозволять жінкам реалізувати свій потенціал та рухатися до професійного розвитку. 

Починаючи з жовтня 2020 року і до листопада 2024 року, Convictus за підтримки PACT Ukraine and Canadian embassy реалізував проект “Жінки залучені: шлях до зростання та економічної безпеки” або скорочено – Wings. Починаючи з 2025 року проект з економічного посилення жінок продовжує свою реалізацію в партнерстві з  Norwegian People’s Aid, Norad, JSC “ING Bank Ukraine”, “Women’s Opportunities in Ukraine” тощо.

Що ми робимо? 

– Проведення заходів на рівні громади та регіону з метою створення платформи для учасників, щоб вони могли обмінюватися досвідом ведення власного бізнесу, брати участь у ярмарках, виставках тощо, привертати увагу органів місцевого самоврядування до жінок-підприємниць з метою розробки місцевих програм підтримки мікро підприємництва;

– Реалізація інтервенції “Семінар можливостей” – 6 групових занять та 6 індивідуальних зустрічей у 3 громадах двічі на рік;

–    Організація та проведення тренінгів з основ започаткування та розвитку бізнесу з подальшою фінансовою підтримкою для придбання обладнання та матеріалів для стартапу;

– Організація та проведення тренінгів з основ успішного працевлаштування з подальшою фінансовою підтримкою для оплати навчання та/або перепрофілювання; створення та розвиток соціально орієнтованих громадських організацій.

– Проведення комісій з оцінки бізнес-планів та планів розвитку жінок для поліпшення можливостей працевлаштування, укладення договорів з переможцями, рекомендованими комісією, на суму до 20 000 грн на курси або обладнання.

Наші результати: 

•   Надання прямих послуг у Київській області жінкам, які постраждали від війни, та вразливим жінкам – 400.
•   Члени громади (соціальні працівники, органи влади тощо)  – 120.
•   Жінки-підприємниці з усієї України – 600.
